Grab Your Owner’s Manual

While we can provide some general tips for maintaining your baler, it’s always best practice to grab your owner’s manual. Your manual will give you specific information for your model year and also recommend certain products you may want to use. You may even find a maintenance log that will help you keep track of your baler inspections so you know if there are any issues that keep occurring. You can also check out the manufacturer’s website for information.

Proper Inspections

As with all heavy equipment, it’s important to perform a thorough inspection on your baler. This is the best way to ensure that your machine isn’t going to break down. You should examine the entire machine and look for any signs of damage or wear and tear. You may encounter issues that you need to address sooner rather than later. This may involve testing out some of the mechanisms too, to ensure they are working properly.

Don’t forget to check the hydraulic system. Because it operates under heat and pressure, it may be prone to maintenance problems. We also recommend keeping a schedule of your baler inspections.

Cleaning

Keeping your baler clean is another great way to make sure it runs smoothly. If any debris get caught up in the gears, they can start to wear down areas of your machine. Clear out all dust and debris and hose down your baler. If you work in muddy conditions, you’ll want to clean your equipment more often.

Keep Some Parts on Hand

One more maintenance tip we recommend you follow is have some spare parts on hand. Instead of having to stop working for an hour or two to run to the store, pick up a part, and install it, you’ll be able to quickly fix your baler and get right back to work. This includes hoses, spark plugs, tines, nuts, bolts, and more.

We hope this guide helps you keep your baler in optimal condition! If you have any questions or you want to buy some new equipment, call Burrows Tractor in Oregon and Washington.
